What is urinary incontinence
A
1.) Definition - involuntary leakage of urine
- ) Cause - bladder pressure is greater than urethral sphincter pressure
- detrusor pressure too high or sphincter pressure too low

4 types of urinary incontinence
A
- ) Stress UI - involuntary leakage on exertion or sneezing or coughing
- ) Urgency UI - involuntary leakage w/ strong urge to urinate
- ) Mixed UI - involuntary leakage w/ urgency on exertion, sneezing, or coughing
- ) Overflow Incontinence - involuntary leakage due to bladder becoming overly full
- often due to loss of S2-S4 reflex in conditions like cauda equina syndrome
