How may AKI be detected?
A
A rise in serum creatinine of >26 μmol/L within 48h
A >50% rise in serum creatinine known or presumed to have occurred within 7 days
A fall in urine output to 6h in adults or >8h in children
A >25% fall in eGFR in children &young people within 7 days

Define AKI
A
A decline in GFR that occurs during a period of less than two weeks.

What can cause AKI?
A
Pre-renal: plasma volume depletion, heart failure, cirrhosis
Renal non parenchymal: renal artery/vein occlusion
Renal parenchymal: intra renal vascular, glomerulonephritis, ischaemic ATN, toxic ATN, interstitial disease, intra renal obstruction
Post-renal: urinary tract obstruction
