Ureter Flashcards
Anterior relations of Right Ureter
- Peritoneum
- Colic vessels
- Testicular/Ovarian vessels
- ileum and mesentery
Anterior relations of left ureter
- Peritoneum
- Colic vessels
- Testicular/Ovarian vessels
- Sigmoid colon & Sigmoid mesocolon
Right ureter relation with IVC
lies close to lateral side of IVC
Posterior relations of Ureter
- Psoas major
- Psoas minor tendon (occasionally)
- Genitofemoral N
- Bifurcation of Common iliacs
Course of Ureter in pelvis
- enters pelvis in front of Common iliac bifurcation - cross Obturator Nerve & anterior branches of Internal iliac - passes below vas deferens - before entering bladder
Narrowest parts of Ureter
- Pelvicureteric Junction
- at the brim of pelvis
- at entry to bladder
Calculus may impact one of these three areas
Blood supply of Ureters
from
- renal arteries
- testicular/ovarian artery
- internal iliac artery
- inferior vesical arteries
Ureter runs along _ of _ vertebrae
tips of Transverse processes of lumbar vertebrae
Ureter cross in front of
_ spine
&
_ joint ?
Ischial spine
Sacroiliac joint
starts from kidney hilum which level ?
- continuation of renal pelvis from Hilum of kidney at L1
Blood supply of ureter
- Renal arteries
- Testicular / Ovarian arteries
- IIA
- Inferior vesicle arteries
Lymphatic drainage of Ureter
Upper ureter - paraaortic node
Lower ureter - common iliac node
Narrowest parts of ureter are
- Pelviuretric junction
- at the brim of the pelvis
- at entry to bladder
Calculus may impact at one of these three areas .
At which site ureter insert into the bladder
Base
Blood supply of proximal ureter
Branches of renal artery
