Q

Explain how one way streets reduce congestion in Glasgow.

A

You can have 2 or 3 lanes of traffic going in one direction. However, drivers often find it difficult to get around the city when unfamiliar.

17
Q

Explain how train & subway lines reduce congestion in Glasgow.

A

Glasgow has the biggest city train network outside of London, making it easy to reach without a car. This allows efficient travel for people all over West Central Scotland in and out of Glasgow.

18
Q

Explain how the M8 & the M74 extension reduce congestion in Glasgow.

A

Both motorways pass close to the CBD and take “through traffic” away from the centre reducing congestion.
For years the Kingston Bridge became a bottleneck and became a new centre for congestion. The M74 extension has reduced congestion on the Kingston Bridge and the M8. However, the construction of these motorways has destroyed thousands of homes and forced people to relocate.

19
Q

Explain how restricted parking reduces congestion in Glasgow.

A

Single & double yellow lines keep streets clear for maximum traffic flow.
