Mega cities inhabit over 10 million people, a direct result of immense urbanisation and consist of a developing state, ee.g. mexico city, mumbai..
character of world cities
Mega cities are chracterised by lack of stable structural basis in all factors such as governance, economy or physical infrastructure itself.

Most located within the developing world, as the developing world characterised by similar features.
Housing
- high population is a large factor influencing demand for housing in mega cities, due to instabilities comes inability for national market or government investment within housing.
- Creation of makeshift housing comes heightened with risk, such as 41% of housing in mumbai being slums
Water and power supply
Accessing water in slums or unstable regions is difficult, especially with no government intervention to supply, and power supply can be restricted due to land ownership and government assistance.
Traffic infrastructure
- high and dense populace leads to extreme demand for transportation whether private or public.
- Further problem with instability with routes or means of transport, leading to highly dense and slow traffic complications.
sanitation services
- Waste disposal and ability to reinforce sanitary is a high issue, waste culminates rapidly as a result
- waste disposal becomes an environment for pest and disease to take root, as well as pollution and carbon emission.
Employment
- Inability for individuals to reinforce sanitary means is high issue for mega cities unwilling to provide for populace, brewing informal economy.
