Zone around CBD - developed in Britain during industrial revolution - factories + terraced houses for workers. Today zone of redevelopment.

Area on edge of city - often built after 1945 and get newer as leave city.

Land around large town or city -protected from development to stop urban sprawl.

Work or purpose of settlement or area.

When an increasing proportion of population is employed into manufacturing.

Settlements usually on outskirts of cities built by residents themselves from scrap materials, on land that doesn’t belong to them.

Urban area where way of life will last a long time - non-damaged environment and economic and social fabric should stand test of time.
Informal Sector.
Part of economy where jobs are created by people to get a straightforward income, not recognised in official figures e.g mending bikes, hairdressing.
