UR1 composite with putty index Flashcards
Describe how you would take the putty index of the lower 3-3.
- Ensure the putty covers the full palatal surface.
- Keep approximately a finger width of material beyond the incisal edge to provide strength.
To simulate a sever defect, which bur should be used to partially decoronate the UR1 and where should the but be placed?
Chamfer bur - place slightly below the contact points.
What should the measurement of the bevel be?
2mm
What should be placed on the adjacent teeth to protect them during air abrasion?
PTFE strip - support when using the air abrasion to prevent it being dislodged.
On patients, what could be used instead of PTFE to protect the adjacent teeth from air abrasion?
Dental Dam
How long should the surfaces to be bonded to be air abraded for?
20 seconds.
How should the dental dam be placed prior to air abrasion?
Place 3-3 with floss ligatures.
How do you use the palatal index to give an indication of where to add the composite?
Use a straight probe to score the palatal index.
How long should the etch be applied to both dentine and enamel for?
20 seconds in total:
Enamel - 5 seconds.
Dentine - 15 seconds more.
How long should the etch be washed and dried?
Wash for 10 seconds, dry for 2-3.
How long should the prime and bond be place for?
20 seconds
How long should the prime and bond be dried for?
5 seconds
How should the dentine shade of composite be dispensed?
Onto a clean mixing pad, using a flat plastic (NOT HANDS) to roll.
Place a dampens over the top to prevent curing.
What instrument can be used to achieve a thin layer of composite on the putty index?
A small brush.
In what order should the tooth be built up?
- Palatal Wall (using putty index)
- Mesial Wall
- Distal Wall
