Q

Describe what’s happens in an online ups system

A

The incoming Ac voltage is always monitored For transient voltages and only clean power reaches the sensitive equipment

Size of the battery is decided at the design stage to suit the load and standby time

The bypass switch is used in the event of an inverter failure

Q

Describe the standby/offline ups

A

This type of system is used for non critical loads

The Incoming AC supply creates a magnet field in a coil closing the contact bypassing the ups when the ESB mains is healthy

When the ESB drops the relay coil de energises opening the relay witch then allows the ups to take over and power the load
