Question 1

Humeral Fractures

Answer 1

• Minimally displaced fractures
• Non operative management suitable for:
  
  • Minimally displaced surgical neck fractures
  • Greater tuberosity fracture displaced <3-5mm
  • Patients otherwise not ideal surgical candidates
  • Broad arm sling immobilisation

Rehabilitation:

• First 6 weeks
• Sling
• Gentle progressive shoulder pendulum exercises as early as 1 week post injury for best results

Question 2

Rotator cuff repair - management

Answer 2

• easing of WB with arm sling
• PROM in shoulder
• wait 6 weeks for AROM, aiming for 90 deg of active supported ROM
