Upper Limb Basics Flashcards
The movement occuring at the carpometacarpal joints of 2 to 5 digits:
Sliding Movement (gliding joint)
Movement at the metacarpophalangeal joints are
Flexion , Extension, Abduction , Adduction Circumduction ( ellipsoid joint)
Interpahalngeal joints
Hinge joint ( flexion and extension)
Rotator cuff include
Mnemonic( Some Stood In The Mine)
1. Subscapularis
2. Supraspinatus
3.Infraspinatus
4.Teres Minor
Skelatal framework of Axillary Inlet
- LATERAL MARGIN OF RIB 1
- SUPERIOR MRAGIN OF SCAPULA
- POSTERIOR SURFACE OF CLAVICLE
- MEDIAL SURFACE OF CORACOID PROCESS OF SCAPULA
Abduction of arm is used for testing
Myotome C5
Dermatome C5 is tested on
Upper lateral regin of the arm for spinal cord C5
Spinal cord level C6
Palmar pad of thumb
Spinal cord level C8
Pad of the little finger
Testing C8
Pad of little Finger
Skin on the medial aspect of elbow is used for test
Spinal cord level T1
Flexion of the forearm at elbow joint is controlled by
C6
Extension of forearm at elbow jont is controlled by
Spinal level C7
Flexion of the fingers is controlled by
C8 spinal cord level
Tap on the tendon of biceps in the cubital fossa mainly tests for
Spinal cord level C6
Tap on the tendon of triceps posterior to the elbow tests mainly for
C7
All muscles of Anterior compartment of the arm are innervated by
Musculocutaneous Nerve
Median nerve innervates the anterior compartment of the forearm except
•Flexor of wrist ( flexor carpi ulnaris)
•Medial half of one flexor of the fingers ( Flexor digitorum profundus )
[These two are innervated by ulnar Nerve]
Muscles innervated by ulnar nerve are
▪︎Most intrinsic muslces of hand with the excpetion of •[THENAR MUSCLES AND TWO LATERAL LUMBRICALS ( innervated by Median Nerve ) ]
Posterior compartment of Arm and forearm are innervated by
RADIAL NERVE
Skin over the anterolateral side of forearm is innervated by
Musculocutaneous Nerve
•Palmar surface of lateral three and one-half digits
•Palmar surface of medial one and one half digits
• Median Nerve
• Ulnar Nerve
Respectively
Skin over the posterior surface of forearm and dorsolateral surface of Hand
Radial Nerve
Axillary nerve ( supplying the DELTOID MUSCLE with is an abductor of humerus at Shoulder joint
Passes around the surgical neck ( posterior aspect of upper part of humerus )
Radial nerve supplying all extensor muscles of Upper limb
Passes diagonally around the posterior surface of the middle of the Humerus in the RADIAL GROOVE
Ulnar nerve innervating the hand
Passes posteriorly around the medial epicondyle of humerus on the distal end of humerus
