upper limb Flashcards
triceps brachi ?o
Origin: Long head: infraglenoid tubercle of scapula; Lateral head: posterior surface of humerus, superior to radial groove; Medial head: posterior surface of humerus, inferior to radial groove
musculocutaneous nerve sensory function
gives rise to the lateral cutaneous nerve of the forearm which innervates the lateral surface of the forearm
clavipectoral fascia is pierced by
acromiothoracic trunk cephalic vein lateral pectoral nerve lymphatics
origin / termination of axillary artery
originates as continuation of subclavian artery as passes under the mid point of the clavicle on the outer edge of the first rib terminates as the brachial artery at the border of teres major
biceps brachii i?
Insertion: Tuberosity of radius and fascia of forearm via bicipital aponeurosis
pect major o/i/n/a
o:clavicular head, ant border of the medial half of the clavicle, sternocostal head, ant sternum, superior six costal cartilages and the aponeurosis of the external oblique muscle i:lateral lip of the bicipital groove of the humerus n:lateral and medial pectoral nerves, c5-t1 a:flex and extend the humerus
Biceps Brachii - o
Origin: Short head: tip of coracoid process of scapula; Long head: supraglenoid tubercle of scapula
biceps brachii ?n
Innervation: Musculocutaneous nerve (C5 and C6 )
radial nerve motor function
innervates triceps, majority of extensor muscles in forearm
supinator ?arterial
Arterial Supply: Recurrent interosseous artery
triceps brachii ?i
Insertion: Proximal end of olecranon process of ulna and fascia of forearm
radial nerve sensory function
posterior forearm, dorsal surface of lateral side of palm, lateral 3,5 digits

nerve supply to suppinator
pin
supinator ?i
Insertion: Lateral, posterior and anterior surfaces of proximal 1/3 of radius
pect minor o/i/n/a
o:3rd-5th costal cartilages i:medial border of coracoid process of the scapula n:medial pectoral n, c8/t1 a:stabilizes scapula, raises ribs on inspiration
triceps brachii ?action
Action: Chief extensor of forearm; long head steadies head of abducted humerus
biceps brachii ?a
Action: Supinates forearm and, when it is supine, flexes forearm
supinator ?o
Origin: Lateral epicondyle of humerus, radial collateral and annular ligaments, supinator fossa and crest of ulna
biceps brachii ?arterial supply
Arterial Supply: Muscular branches of brachial artery
supinator ?nerve
Innervation: Deep branch of radial nerve (C5 and C6)
triceps brachii ?nerve
Innervation: Radial nerve (C6, C7 and C8)
musculocutaneous nerve motor function
anterior compartment of the arm, coracobrachialis, biceps brachii and brachialis
