Sensory nerves from abdomen

A

Parietal = somatic - localized, sharp pain, from parietal membranes, travels through ventral ramus -> DRG

Visceral - dull/referred, from visceral membrane/organs (usually ischemia, stretch), travels through sympathetic splanchnics -> white ramus -> DRG

Compartments of abdomen

A

Intraperitoneal = suspended
-> greater sac
-> lesser sac
Extraperitoneal = between parietal peritoneum and transversalis fascia
-> pre/properitoneal (bladder)
-> subperitoneal (pelvis)
-> retroperitoneal = large, as big as peritoneum, can contain a lot of fluid

Spaces of upper abdomen

A
R subphrenic (above liver)
Morrison's/R subhepatic/hepatorenal - collects fluid when supine
Lesser sac - behind lesser omentum
Perihepatic - superior to lesser omentum
L subphrenic (ie spleen)
