what is the MOI for an A/C separation?
often FOOSH (fallen on outstretched hands) or direct blow
what is A/C separation?
injury to the ligaments that connect the clavicle to the scapula
what is the treatment for an A/C separation?
sling for a few weeks
which direction does the shoulder dislocate usually?
anteriorly 98% of the time
what is the MOI of a humeral fracture?
direct blow or axial load at elbow
what is teh treatment of a humeral fracture?
hard brace and PT
surgery is risky bc of all the nerves that wrap around the humerus
which pediatric elbow fracture is most common?
supracondylar fractures
what are some x-ray signs of pediatric elbow fracture?
- posterior fat pad
- anterior sail sign
- anterior humeral capitulum line
- radial capitulum line

what is the mechanism of injury of nursemaids elbow?
sudden pull upwards, usually of hand/wrist
what is the most common wrist fracture?
colles fx
what is colles fx?
a fracture of distal radius in the wrist with a characteristic backward displacement of the hand (falling forward on outstretched hands)
what is smith’s fx?
(reverse Colles fx)- when you fall on the back of your hand (flexed hands); falling backwards
what is the most common carpel fracture?
scaphoid fx - bc blood supply is distal to proximal, so proximal fx worse.
what are the symptoms of scaphoid fx?
scaphoid tenderness
snuff box tenderness
pain with thumb compression
what is aka Boxer’s fracture?
4th and 5th metacarpal fx
