upper and lower extremity counterstrain things Flashcards
Anterior acromioclavicular counterstrain
tip of clavicle over anterior aspect of AC joint
-pull their arm across
Posterior acromioclavicular
extend and adduct… traction at wrist
subscapularis
extend, IR, slightly abduct it… NO TRACTION
Latissumus dorsi
extend, IR, abduct…WITH TRACTION
long head and short head of biceps
long: bicipital groove… gone with the wind
short: inferolateral to coracoid process… more exaggerated gone with the wind thing
supraspinatus
- above the scapula
- abduct 45, flex 45, and ER 45
extension elbow
- side of olecranon process of ulna near triceps tendon
- supinate wrist, hyperextends elbow, fine tune with abd or adduction
flexion elbow
- coronoid process of ulna
- flex patient’s elbow, pronates and abducts arm, then pull forearm out laterally
Radial head
ant/lateral border of radial head
-elbow into supination and fully extending elbow over knew with other hand
flexion wrist and thum
wrist: flex pts. wrist with slight radial or ulnar deviation
- thumb: flex wrist and abduct the thumb
patellar tendon
- supine postion with fulcrum under distal tib/fib
- push anterior to posterior on distal femur
medial hamstring
posterior medial surface of tibial condyle
-flex patient’s knee, externally rotate the tibia on femur and fine tune with adduction at the knee
posterior cruciate ligament
close to middle of popliteal space
- fulcrum under distal tib fib
- PUSH THE FEMUR POSTERIORLY
- PF changs
Anterior cruciate ligament
medial and lateral aspects of the popliteal fossa
-fulcrum under the distal femur
-PUSH THE TIBIA POSTERIORLY
AT Still
extension ankle
prone
plantar flex the ankle
tender point is on both gastrocnemius heads and both sides of Achilles tendon
