Liposclerosing myxofibrous tumor
Most commonly presents in the intertrochanteric region of the femur. Can also occur in other long bones and ribs. M and F both equally affected, usually in their 30’s-early 40’s.
Features:
Bland myxoid and fibrous stroma, adipose tissue, foamy histiocytes, mast cells, curved bony trabeculae and cementum-like ossicles.
Risk of malignant transformation in 10% of cases.
Genetics: Some with activating GNAS mutations. Some idiopathic.
