Eye Injury

- cold water for 20 min - remove jewellery or restricted items - remove wet clothing - cover burnt area with loose light non- sticky dressing - cover non burnt areas to keep patient warm - NO ICE

- seek assistance - remove to fresh air - give oxygen (if trained)

Cardiac arrest- symptoms and treatment
sudden collapse, loss of consciousness, and no breathing. Call 000 DRSABCD S.A.M.P.L.E S= signs and symptoms A= Allergies M= medication (currently on) P= past medical history L= last meal? E= events leading to presentation

Non- fatal drowning
conscious- monitor unconscious and breathing- recovery position unconscious not breathing- CPR

Allergic reaction
- calm casualty - remove stinger - apply ice - send to hospital if infant or elderly

Anaphylaxis
= severe allergic reaction from triggering substance symptoms- difficulty breathing, swelling tongue, shortness of breath treatment= epi-pen

Seizures
symptoms- spasming, foaming of mouth treatment- remove everything out of way, don't move them, take note of when it begins, when it ends put in recovery position

treat the same as seizure = caused from fever

Thermic regulation
Hypothermic- warm person with blankets etc. Hyperthermia- caused by over exertion and poor fluid intake - strip of clothing - cool bath Dehydration- gradually cool, slow sips of water, seek assistance if severe

Hypoglycaemia- low blood sugar symptoms = sweaty, pale, shaking treatment = sugar, glucose Hyperglycaemia- high blood sugar symptoms- rapid pulse, dry skin treatment- follow DRSABCD , give insulin
