Untitled Deck Flashcards
When using AEC what do we lose control over?
Seconds
What are the 2 types of AEC detectors
which came first?
Phototimers
Ionization chambers
Phototimers
How do photo timers work?
Turn X-rays into light and then into an electronic signal
Where are photo timers AEC located?
Behind the IR
Where are Ionization chambers AEC located?
Between the patient and the IR
What does the MAS readout tool do?
Displays the amount of MAS used on the projection
What are some ways we can use the MAS readout tool?
New techs can use it to get familiar with their technical factors
If MAS was insufficient you can use the readout tool to have a baseline
What is the minimum response timer?
The minimum time needed to get an exposure
What are the current minimum response times?
1 millisecond
What are some down sides of minimum response time?
Some generators are so fast the AEC can’t keep up
What are the 3 types of AEC detectors?
Scintillation detectors
Solid-state detectors
Ion chambers
What does the backup timer do?
It’s the maximum amount of time allowed to get the image before the machine terminates the exposure
Limits exposure in case of failures
What was the back up timer in the old days?
5 seconds
What’s the formula for back up timer?
Uses 1.5 or 2 times the expected time setting for the part
Density controls go up or down by how much?
25%
