Never a good idea to leave a child in a unattended vehicle.
Illegal to leave a child 6 years or younger unattended in a motor vehicle. *court may fine a violation&require a community education program. Court penalties are more severe if the child is injured/requires medical assistance/or dies. Child may be left under the supervision of a 12+ year old child
