Q

What is the Constant State Theory?

A

The universe has always existed in a steady state; as it expands, new matter is created to keep the density of the universe consistent.

However, this theory has been largely ruled out due to observations and evidences from the 1960s.

Q

What is the Oscillating Model Theory?

A

The universe is in a cycle of expanding and contracting (like blowing up a balloon, letting it deflate, then blowing it up again), but there is no evidence as of yet that show signs of the universe contracting.

Q

What is the Big Bang Theory?

A

Our universe began 13.8 billion years ago from a single point smaller than an atom. It was extremely hot and dense and started expanding outward (the “bang”). The new matter cooled down to form different objects like planets, moons, and stars.

To this day, the universe continues to expand; this is the most supported theory of the three, constantly being refined as more things are discovered.
