Proton (along with other materials) packed into very small space. Universe creates space as it goes.
Timeline speed of universe building
1st second, gravity and other physics forces. Minute, universe is a million, billion miles across and still growing. 10 billion degrees of heat mean nuclear reactions begin, creating light elements (hydrogen and helium and some lithium). 3 Minutes 98% of matter exists.

13.7 billion years ago

Big Bang theory 1920 but wasn’t picked up until 1960’s
How was Big Bang theory picked up in 1960’s?
Arno Penzias and Robert Wilson found radiation left over from the Big Bang, they didn’t know what is was but won the Nobel Prize in physics in 1978. Researches who knew what it received no award.
What caused the Big Bang theory?
The singularity was a relic of a previous collapses universe - could be a cycle of collapsing and expounding universes.

Georges Lemaître 1920 but wasn’t picked up until 1960’s accidently by Arno Penzias and Robert Wilson who accidently found radiation left over from the Big Bang.

Explain the Inflation theory
Inflation theory - universe exploded and ran away with itself, Big Bang happened, gravity then happened, then electromagnetism and nuclear forces (physics). Then photons, protons, electrons and neutrons.
What is “critical density”?
Gravity is perfectly pitched to hold the universe together at just the right dimensions.
What does the Big Bang theory not explain?
How the heavier elements came into existence, however the action of the Big Bang did produce the heat and energy required for such elements to be created.
