Unit three Flashcards
Transversal
a line that intersects two or more coplanar lines
Corresponding angles
lie on the same sides of the intersecting lines
Alternate interior angles
non adjacent angles that lie on opposite sides of the transversal between intersected lines
Consecutive interior angles or same side interior.
Lie on the same side of the transversal between the intersected lines.
consecutive exterior angles
lie on the same sides of the transversal outside the intersected lines
Alternate exterior angles
lie on the same sides of the transversal outside the intersecting lines
Corresponding angles postulate
If two parallel lines are cut by a transversal then the resulting corresponding angles are congruent
Alternate interior angles theorem
If two parallel lines are but by a transversal then the pairs of alternate interior angles have the same measure.
Consecutive interior angles theorem
if two parallel lines are but by a transversal then the pairs of consecutive interior angles are supplementary
Alternate exterior angles therom
if two parallel lines are but by a transversal then the pairs of alternate exterior angles have the same measure
Consecutive exterior angles therom
if two parallel lines are cut by a transversal then the pairs of consecutive exterior angles are supplementary
exterior angles are always ______
supplementary
Converse of the corresponding angles postulate
if two lines are cut by a transversal so that corresponding angles are congruent, then the lines are parallel
Converse of the alternate interior angles therom
if two lines are but by a transversal so that alternate interior angles are congruent, then the lines are parallel
Transitive property of parallel lines therom
if two lines are parallel to the same line then they are parallel to each other
