Unit Test Flashcards
How can you generate a static charge
Rubbing together different materials(friction)
Conduction
Movement of electrons through a wire
What is a battery
A battery is a collection of cells that coverts chemical energy into electrical energy
Types of electrolytes (wet cell) (dry cell)
Wet cell. Dry cell
Long life. Very durable
Can spill Shorter life
Ex motor vehicles. Ex phones/flashlights
Voltage
The pressure that push’s electricity (parallel)
Resistance
A force that counter acts the flow of current( series)
Current
Rate at which electrons flow( series)
Insulator
A material that resists the flow of electricity
(Plastic,glass)
Resistor
A device that uses electrical energy
Lightbulb,motor
Conductor
A material that allows electricity to flow easily ex copper zinc
What is current electricity
The amount of electricity flowing through a circuit
Series circuit
Current: the current throughout the whole circuit is the same as the current supplied
Voltage: the sum of the drops across each load
Resistance: the total resistance increases
Parallel circuit
Current: the sun of the current passing through each load
Voltage equal to the voltage drop at each resistor
Resistance: total resistance decreases
Static electricity
Charge builds up and stays in 1 place
Caused by friction
Insulator made of different materials
No continuous flow of electrons
Current electricity
Charge flows continuously
Requires a power source
Electrons flow in conductors
