the study of the earths physical and human systems and the relationships among them.
define physical geography
studies the physical characteristics that make up the structure of the earth. physical geography is closely related to the study of geology
define urban geography
highly specialized branch of geography that examines structures and patterns within cities
define environmental geography
examines earths ecosystems and the human impact on these ecosystems.
define human geography
examines how humans interact with the natural environment either positively or negatively.
define small scale map
map that shows a small amount of detail of a large area
define map
representation of the earths features drawn on a flat surface
define large scale map
map that shows a large amount of detail of a small area
define region
is an area of the earth that is identified based on certain characteristics. they can be natural (landforms or vegetation) or they can be divided by humans (political boundaries)
