What are the three aspects of development?
acceptable standard of living, improving the quality of living, process of change and growth.
Explain the difference between acceptable standard of living and improving the quality of living.
Acceptable standard of living refers to the basic necessities that people require to live, like food and water, while improving the quality of life means giving people life chances, additional benefits like certain facilities and opportunities (education, job opportunities).
What is meant by development being a process of change and growth?
It means that development is a neverending process as people will always be striving to improve the quality of their lives and their childrens’. Every country in the world is still trying to develop.
What is poverty?
Poverty is when people/communities do not have an acceptable standard of living. This may mean that they aren’t eating healthy food or drinking clean water.
What is sustainable development?
Sustainable development is meeting the needs of the current generation without compromising the future generations.
What’s an example of Sustainable development?
Using renewable/green energy instead of fossil fuels.
What is the DCR?
The DCR (Development Compass Rose) is a model that geographers use to think about Development HOLISTICALLY.
What are the terms used to describe Developing, Developed and Emerging Countries?
LEDC (less economically developed countries);
NIC (newly industrialized countries);
MEDC (more economically developed countries).
What are two similarities and differences between poverty and development?
poverty and development both refer to the acceptable standard of living and improving the quality of life. they both also impact the development of a country. However poverty is solvable and development is ongoing.
