Structural Functionalism
Societies are systems of necessary, synchronized parts that work together. Systems work together for the benefit of ALL members of society.
Conflict Theory
Societies are characterized by groups in conflict over control of wealth, power, and prestige. Powerful groups create a system that benefits themselves and punishes the powerless
Symbolic Interactionalism
Focuses on the way humans interpret symbols during the process of social interaction

Our understanding of the world is shaped by our social position in society. (Religion, sexual orientation, gender, wealth-class, etc.)
