When a words used with être ends in a consonant like the words in the Passe Compose, when talking about something feminine in the P.C. the word must be made feminine and the letter before the e must be pronounced. E.g.: elle est morte. Elle is feminine and since mort is used with être, an E is place at the end of mort(e) to make it feminine and the T is pronounced. If the T is not pronounced, then the sentence has been spoken incorrectly.
