Cold War
A non-physical war fought between countries through means of intimidation and propoganda.
Non-Aligned Movement
A movement for countries that were not aligned with any major nation or power.
Kwame Nkrumah
A Ghanaian politician who took part in the non-aligned movement.
Proxy Wars (Korean War and Angolan Civil War)
A series of wars fought by influence from major powers, causing the countries to fight one another, however, the major powers do not do much fighting.
Communist Revolution in China
A revolution influenced by Mao Zedong was led to establish a communist society in which everyone was equal.
Great Leap Forward
The communist revolution within China gave way for Zedong to create a “Great Leap” in their economy. He used their abnormally large population to generate the country wealth.
Communist Revolution for Vietnamese Independence
Vietnam strived to become an independent country from France, as a result they started a communist nation to become independent from France.
Decolonization
After World War 2 a large portion of European countries lacked the monetary funds and overall power to control and expand colonies. As a result, many countries began to work their way to independence. Known as the undoing of colonialism.
Indian National Congress
A group and organization of Indian men who fought for Indian independence from Europeans.
Muslim League
An organization created to protect the Muslim people within india.
Partition of India
After multiple wars and tensions between the Muslim and Hindu people, Pakistan and East Pakistan wee formed for Muslims as a result.
Creation of Israel
Isreal was created from initially Palestian, which contained both jews and muslims. Isreal was formed as a result of the tensions between jews and muslims.
Metropole
Parent state of a colony. Ex-Britain owning most of India.
Mohandas Gandhi
A leader in the independence movement of India against Britain. Peacefully protested against his opressors.
Martin Luther King, Jr.
Leader of the civil rights movement and fought against segregation peacefully.
