Unit 8 Flashcards
Two angles sharing a common vertex and whose sides form pairs of opposite rays
Vertical angles
Two angles whose sum is 90°
Complementary angles
Two angles whose sum is 180°
Supplementary angles
A line intersecting two or more other lines
Transversal
Angles in the same relative position to one another (F)
Corresponding angles
Angles that are formed by a transversal and that are located between two intersected lines
Interior angles
Transversal (U)
Same side interior
Transversal (Z)
Alternate interior angles
Angles that are formed by a transversal and that are located outside the two intersected lines
Exterior angles
Formed by a pair of parallel lines and transversal; they are congruent
Alternate exterior angles
A corner if a polygon
Vertex
A polygon where any line segment connecting any two vertices must pass through the interior of the shape.
Convex polygon
A polygon where all at least one line segment connecting any two vertices passes through the outside of the shape
Concave polygon
A polygon where all sides are equal in length and all angles are equal in measure
Regular polygon
Calculating lengths using ratios of corresponding sides of similar polygons
Indirect measurement
Two angles that share a common vertex and a common side
Adjacent angles
