unit 7 Flashcards
SynergEyes ID lens characteristics
-single vision or multifocal
-hyperbond junction
-RGP = petrafocon A (130dK)
-Soft skirt = larafilcon A (84 dK)
-6 month replacement
-UV protection
BC for synergEyes
7.10 to 8.3mm
powers for SynergEyes
+10 to -15
Skirt curves for Synergeyes
38 to 49D
add powers for synergeyes
low, med, high
OAD for synergeyes
14.5mm
GP diameters for synergeyes
8.5mm
tangible hydra-PEG coating for synergeyes
very slippers // makes it very comfortable but also very difficult to remove
enhanced profile in synergeyes
they make the centre thickness a little greater because they dont want the CL to flex on the pxs eye. When the CL flexes on the pxs cornea it can create unwatned astigmatism
synergeyes fitting kits
-order empirically
- k readings
-HVID
-Rx
-Add power (if multifocal)
-Hybrid lens fit kit
duette fitting kit
Kit would have one skirt curve and various GP curves
Hybrid lens insertion
Do NOT push the lens forcefully on the eye
-Preservative FREE gurantess less discomfort then CL solution // if you use preservative solution it can cause redness
-Fill the bowl completely to the top with PRESERVATIVE FREE saline
-Point chin to chest, look down
-with left hand hold your upper eye lid
-hold the hybrid lens on two fingers to insert
Hybrid lens removal
- must have dry fingers to remove lens
-do not put lubricating drops in your eye prior to removal because we dont want to make it any more slippery
-Your thumb and index finger will be pinched together very small and will punch the bottom of the skirt right off
care system
-multipurpose soft contact lens solution
-clearcare for cleaning and disinfecting
-purilens plus preservative free solution
-synergeyes hybrid contact lens handling and care
if storing CL for long periods what solution do you store it in
multipurpose solution NOT clearcare
-after clearcare steralization has been done it essentially turns into water w no preservatices so it can build bacteria
can you use hydraglyde for GPs
No it can damage it
flurescein
-instill no preserved saline
-instil fluroscein to lens bowl
-critical to instill fluroscein for irregular cornea
-you can instil fluroscein after the CLs is instilled but it may take longer to get under because the minimal tear exchange
follow up visit
-check VA and SOR or SCOR
-check all fitting parameters
-apply NaFl beside soft skirt (moves under GP lens after 1-2 mins)
-remove lens and check corneal staining
to correct a lens that is decentered or sitting to low..
we will steepen a GP base curve
how to fix GP apical bearing
steepen GP base curve
how to fix exessive movement
steepen skirt curve
how to fix GP central pooling
flatten the GP base curve
how to fix NO movement with the lens
flatten the skirt curve
what is flutting
bubble on the edge of the contact lens
caused by it being to flat
