-vasodilation causing blood to pool in capillary beds
-low circulating volume
Anaphylaxis shock
-excessive immune response
Neurogenic shock
-injury to brain or spinal cord (drugs)
Septic
-infection release toxins which trigger inflammatory response
cardiogenic shock
-reduced cardiac output
ex. MI, electrocution
shock signs & symptoms
-altered mental status
-diaphoresis
-tachycardia
-tachypnea
-hypotension
shock medical intervention
-stop bleeding
-keep pt warm
-elevate legs
-oxygen
-blood
Normal blood glucose levels

hypoglycemia

-candy

Ketoacidosis
-lack of insulin causing cells to run out of glucose to metabolize
-starts to metabolize fat = toxins
treatment for ketoacidosis
-insulin
-iv fluids
Hyperosmolar coma
-hyperglycemia + dehydration
-blood thickens
-altered consciousness
