The nth largest city will be 1/nth of the size of the biggest city
Urban Hierarchy
A ranking of settlements according to size/functions. Hamlet, village, town, city, metropolis
Primate city
A city with that largest population in the country by far. At least double the population of the second largest city
Gravity Model
Cities that are closer and larger to each other are more likely to interact with one another
Central Place Theory
The idea that smaller areas surround larger ones and rely on them for more important needs
Threshhold
Minimum # of people required to support a good/service
Range
max distance a person is willing to travel for a good/service
