Unit 5: Special Right Triangles and Trigonometry Flashcards
What is the Converse of the Pythagorean Theorem?
Right Trianges: If the sum of the squares of the lengths of the legs is EQUAL to the square of the length of the longest side, then the triangle is a right triangle.
Acute Triangles: If the sum of the squares of the lengths of the legs is GREATER than the square of the length of the longest side, then the triangle is an acute triangle.
Obtuse Triangles: If teh sum of the squares of the lengths of the legs is LESS than the square of the length of the longest side, then the triangle is an obtuse triangle.
45°-45°-90° Triangle Theorem
Hypotenuse = Leg X √2
30°-60°-90° Triangle Theorem
Hypotenuse = Shorter leg X 2
Longer Leg = Shorter Leg X √3
