HTTPS:
HyperText Transfer Protocol over Secure Socket Layer.
A secure version of HTTPused primarily on websites handling personal or sensitive information (e.g., passwords, credit card details).
SSL & Certificates
Secure Socket Layer (SSL):
Enables HTTPS by encrypting data between your browser and the website.
For HTTPS, websites must have an SSL certificate installed.
SSL certificates are issued by a Certificate of Authority (CA), a trusted third party.
Verifying HTTPS
Checking SSL Certificates:
In your browser, a padlock icon indicates a secure site.
Double-click the padlock icon to view and verify the SSL certificate details.
Ensures the authenticity and security of the website you’re visiting.
FTP (File Transfer Protocol)
Protocol used to transfer files across the Internet.
Unlike HTTP, which displays files in the browser, FTP is used for file transfer between computers.
WebDAV
Stands for Web-Based Distributed Authoring and Versioning.
An extension of HTTP used for communication between client browsers and web servers.
Supports collaborative editing and file management on remote servers.
Can be implemented on both UNIX and Windows servers.
