Lend-Lease Act

A

In March 1941, Congress approved the Act allowing the United States to lend/lease American arms to European democracies. By 1945, the US had sent $50 million worth of equipment to Europe, especially Britain. This caused the end of our neutrality because Hitler saw this as a declaration of war.

Women in WWII

A

Given “inappropriate” roles such as factory workers and heavy industrial jobs (“Rosies”). Most women worked in service-sector jobs, especially for the government as “government girls.” About 200,000 women joined the military or WAAC to be mail carriers, mechanics, clerical workers, nurses, ambulance drivers, pilots, or radio operators.

A

On 6th June 1944, 2,727 ships sailed to the Normandy coast, and on the first day, 156,000 men landed along a 30-mile front to face 50 German divisions.
