Where is most of the water in the hydrological cycle?
Oceans
What is through flow?
Where water drains into the soil and runs into rivers and lakes.
What are the three main reasons for unreliable water supplies?
Wet and dry seasons, weather cycles, global warming.
What are some of the causes of river pollution?
Untreated sewage being pumped into them, agricultural chemicals running into them, non-degradable plastic bags.
How can we manage river pollution?
We can treat sewage before disposal, reduce use of fertilisers and pesticides, clean factories’ waste and send plastic to recycling centers rather than dumping it.
What are large scale water management strategies?
Expensive and large project organised by governments and usually consist of dams or reservoirs being created.
What are examples of small scale water management?
Wells, hand pumps and rain barrels.
Where are small scale water management projects generally used?
Poor or LEDCs
