You need to use specific evidence/ details to support your answer and to argue against the other side by predicting what the other argument might be.

Good thing:
- new territories
- Panama Canal allowed them to defend newly acquired territories and trading was easier
- freed Cuba in Spanish American war

Why it was a bad thing:
- angered, Philippines
- led to world war I, which was a pointless war that killed so many and could have been prevented
- created treaty of Versailles which really just anger, Germany and made them secret revenge in world war II
