Sovereignty
the authority for a state to govern itself
Nation
a group of people who feel together because of similar culture
Nation-State
when the cultural boundaries line up with political boundaries
Multi-state
people who share common characteristics and live in multiple states
Multi-national
a county with many cultural groups under one government
state
a boundary make by a government that has authority for political stuff
Irredentism
when one state breaks up and merges with another
Stateless Nation
an ethnic group or nation that does not have its own sovereign state
Choke Point
a tiny little body of water where many country’s use that can be cut off when their is conflict
Shatterbelts
unstable cultural or political stuff that are close to collapsing
Self-Determination
when a country determines its own government basically
Devolution
transferring powers to a central government or sovereign state to lower governments such a local, sub national, regional
Superimposed Boundary
political barriers drawn without thinking about culture, religion, or ethnic divisions for the people who live there 😒
Exclusive Economic Zone
on area of ocean normally 200 miles beyond a nations territory on land they can do what they want with it
Federal State
a country where government is shared with other central governments
