EFAW definition
Enables a first aider to give emergency first aid to someone who is injured or becomes ill at work.
FAW definition
Includes EFAW and also equips the first aider to apply first aid to a range of specific injuries and illnesses.

What is first aid?
First aid is the immediate treatment given to an injured person.
Primary survey (DRABC)
Danger - Check the area for potential danger to yourself. Another casualty will worsen the problem. Also remove any potentially hazardous objects from around the casualty.
Response - Check if there is any response from the injured person. If not, call for help immediately. Do not leave the injured person.
Airway - be aware of potential neck injuries, Gently tip the head backwards and check if there are any foreign objects in the person’s mouth, blocking the airway.
Breathing - Check to see if the person is breathing. If not, send someone for an ambulance or dial 999.
Circulation - Check for signs of circulation. If not cardiopulmonary resuscitation should commence (CPR).

Abuse definition
A form of maltreatment of a child where harm is inflicted or there is failure to act to prevent harm.
Physical abuse
A form of abuse which may involve hitting, shaking, throwing, poisoning, burning or scalding, drowning, suffocating or otherwise causing physical harm to a child.
Emotional abuse
This may involve conveying to a child that they are worthless or unloved, inadequate, or valued only insofar as they meet the needs of another person. It may feature age or developmentally inappropriate expectations being imposed on children.
Sexual abuse
This involves forcing or enticing a child or young person to take part in sexual activities, not necessarily involving a high level of violence, whether or not the child is aware of what is happening.
