A

North: The North blockaded trade, forced the southerners into hiding, and could cut the head off of Richmond.
South: The South could simply sit there and defend for as long as they wanted to

A

S: The South did not have good transportation options, and their trade could and would be easily cut off by naval ships, especially since they didn’t have their own Navy.
North: Because the South could defend, it would force the North to impatiently wait for the South to surrender, which could take a few grueling weeks.
