CFE
2/4 Time Signature
there are 2 beats in each measure and a quarter note is worth one beat
Staccato
a dot under or over the notes, play these notes very short.
Flat
A lower pitch
Half step
the distance between any two adjacent keys, white or black
Whole step
The distance between any two pitches that are TWO half steps apart
Tetrachord
a series of four notes separated by three intervals.
Major scale
to the seventh scale degrees of a major scale are called major
Fortissimo
A marking that combines the two terms, fortissimo (loud), and piano (soft)
Blues progression
one of the most prominent chord progressions in popular music.
Natural
when the letter-name note (A, B, C, D, E, F, or G) is not modified by flats or sharps from a key signature or an accidental.
Key signature
C major consists of pitches C,D,E,F,G,A and B. G major shows the sharps and flats of a particular key.
Syncopated notes
most often by stressing an off-beat, or a note that is not on the beat
