Acronym of FITT
Frequency, Intensity, Time, and Type
An exercise program depends on the current fitness level and the type of activity performed.
Frequency
This refers to the difficulty level of the workout.
Intensity
Influenced by the intensity and the type of activity performed.
Time
Influenced by the fitness goal and the current fitness level. (mode of exercise or activity)
Type
A multi-joint movement that can show a neuromuscular deficit in the core muscles.
Squat
Movement that evaluates movement stability and a neuromuscular deficit of the lower extremities.
Lunge
A standard movement in many sports that involve throwing.
Trunk rotation
A basic exercise that evaluates the strength of the arms and abdominal muscles as well as the flexibility of the shoulder joint.
Push up
This principle states that the body must work harder than what it is used to for it to adapt.
Principle of overload
This type of principle states that the body should experience a gradual increase in workload.
Principle of progression
This type of principle states that the body will adapt individually to the workload it experienced.
Principle of specificit
This type of principle states that no two persons are the same and their rate of adaptation to the same workload differs.
Principle of individuality
This type of principle states that if your energy systems are not utilized, they deteriorate to a level that matches your level of activity.
