The Legislator = Congress
It has 3 very important roles:
o Write federal laws (apply to all 50 states)
o Set how much is to be paid to the government and what the federal government can spend each year.
o Scrutinise the work of the Executive (president)
- make sure they are doing their job properly
- Includes checking how the president id spends money
- Approving who they pick to be on the supreme court

o Representing the US internationally, the main ambassador
o Lead the armed forces to keep the US safe
o Select Supreme Court judges
o Sign all bills passed by Congress into law
o Run the federal government and spend the money given to it by Congress
