Unit 3 topic 4-6 review science 7 fscs Flashcards
Expand:
To make bigger or increase in volume
Contract:
To make smaller or decrease in volume
Solidification:
to make solid; make into a hard or compact mass change from a liquid or gaseous to a solid form
Convection current:
a current in a fluid that results from convection.
Convection:
the movement caused within a fluid by the tendency of hotter and therefore less dense material to rise, and colder, denser material to sink under the influence of gravity, which consequently results in transfer of heat.
Fluids:
a substance that has no fixed shape and yields easily to external pressure; a gas or (especially) a liquid.
Heat insulators:
A material or an object that does not easily allow heat, electricity, light, or sound to pass through it.
Thermal Energy:
Thermal energy is the internal energy of an object due to the kinetic energy of its atoms and/or molecules.
Melt:
Make or become liquified by heat
Freeze:
Make or become Solidified by cold
Evaporate:
Turn from liquid into vapor
Condense:
To turn a gas into a liquid
Sublimation:
When a solid turns into gas
Evaporative Cooling:
When heat is removed from the surface liquid is on for it to be evaporated
Energy Source:
Material such as coal, gas, oil, and wood consumed in generation of power
