Sovereignty

Unitary State
Characterized by the existence, at the national level, of a written, rigid constitution guaranteeing the several intermediate governments not only permanence and independence but also a full complement of legislative, executive, and judicial powers
Federal State
Why is the United States a Federal State?
The Constitution gave power to both the Federal Government and the state governments.
How are unitary states different from federal states?
A unitary state is a state where laws are administered uniformly by one central government. A federal state is a state where there are regional authorities and compete for power and dilute the authority of the central government
