Unit 3: Convection Flashcards
1
Q
What is a fluid?
A
A substance that contains particles that can move around freely. (Liquid + Gas).
2
Q
What is convection?
A
The way heat energy flows through liquids and gases.
3
Q
What is a convection current?
A
Circular movementof fluids caused by convection.
4
Q
How does a convection current work?
A
When a fluid is warmed up, the particles move vigorously. This makes them take up more space and the warm part of the fluid becomes less dense, the cooler part becomes dense and the heat is moved around.
