Unit 3 anaerobic and aerobic Flashcards
anaerobic occurs
when there is not enough oxygen for aerobic resperation such as during strenuous exercise
aerobic occurs in
in the mitochondria of cells to transfer energy
-glucose is absorbed from the small intestine into the blood plasma and then diffuses into the cells
how does oxgyen diffuse
it is breathed
and then it diffuses into the bloodstream
and then is carried by haemoglobin to the cells where it diffuses in
how does carbon dioxide diffuse
diffuses out of the cells into the blood plasma it is transported to the lungs
where it diffuses into air sacs and is exhaled
anaerobic respiration causes
muscles cramps due to the lactic acid being a toxic chemical
much less energy per glucose molecules released
word equation for aerobic respiration is
glucose + oxygen —> carbon dioxide + water (+energy)
word equation for anaerobic respiration is
glucose—> lactic acid (+energy)
fermentation word equation is
glucose—> ethanol + carbon dioxide (+energy)
