Q

What is interphase?

A

Interphase is the preparation for mitosis. This is the waiting stage, all growth happens.

Q

What are chromatids?

A

Chromatid is half of a chromosome. A complete chromosome has two sister chromatids.

Q

What is prophase? When does it happen? And what stage is it for mitosis?

A

Prophase is the first stage of mitosis. During this stage the centrioles migrate to opposite poles, spindle fibers form from the centrioles and attach to the centimeres. The nucleus will also begin to break down spilling the chromosomes into the cytoplasm.

Q

What is metaphase and what stage does that happen in for mitosis?

A

Metaphase is the second stage of mitosis. This is when the spindle fibers connect to the centromeres of the chromosomes. The chromosomes will then the lineup at the equator and the spindle fibers will attach to one half of the chromosome (sister chromatid)

Q

What is anaphase what stage does that happen?

A

Anaphase is the third stage of mitosis. This is when the cell begins to elongate while the chromosomes are pulled apart into sister chromatids, they then migrate to opposite poles.

Q

What is telophase and what stage of mitosis does it occur?

A

Telophase is the fourth stage of mitosis. This is when spindle fibers begin to disappear while the nucleus is rebuilding. Cleavage furrow in animal cells or cell plate forms and cytokinesis happens

Q

What is meiosis 1?

A

Meiosis is the splitting of homologous pairs, much like mitosis, this ends in a haploid count

16
Q

What is Meiosis two?

A

Meiosis two is the splitting of chromosomes to produce gametes, ends in haploid count.

17
Q

What is haploid count?

A

How to play count is half the total amount of chromosomes.

18
Q

Why does the human body go through meiosis?

A

The body does this to produce gametes.
