SPECIES
A group of living things that can breed to produce fertile offspring.
BIODIVERSITY
The variety of living things in a defined area.
POPULATION
All the organisms of the species living in the same area.
HABITAT
The place where organisms live live.
PRODUCER
A plant at the beginning of a food chain that can produce it’s own food.
CONSUMER
An animal in a food chain that eats something else. (other animal or plant)
HERBIVORE
An organism that only eats plants.
CARNIVORE
An organism that only eats animals.
OMNIVORE
An organism that eats both plants and animals.
PREDATOR
An organism that hunts prey.
PREY
An organism that is hunted by a predator.
COMMUNITY
All the organisms in an ecosystem.
NICHE
The role an organism plays within its community.
INTRASPECIFIC COMPETITION
When individuals of the same species compete for all the same resources they need.
INTERSPECIFIC COMPETITION
When individuals of different species compete for one or a few of the resources they require.
