Adam and Ee could speak to God easily, and could trust Him like a Father.

Before Adam saw what was good for his neighbor and choose it.

- Tree of Knowledge represents the moral laws that humans can obey or disobey (10 commandments)
- Represents the fact that human beings cannot redefine what is good or evil for themselves or the consequences.

that you have to follow it in order to get to Heaven, it’s trying to help you not hurt you

after the fall we don’t speak to God easily, and we have trouble trusting Him

after the fall Adam only thinks of himself

Creation works against Adam and Eve (hurricanes, tornadoes, animals)

the intellect in the soul is darkened.
The will is weakened.
The passions are misguided, instead of wanting good, we do evil.
What are 5 parallels between the Old Adam and the New Adam?
The Old Adam-
- 1st born Son of God
- Adam sins in the Garden
- Gets tempted by satan and falls
- Adam is scared to die
- After Adam sin s we cannot see God
The New Adam-
- J.C. is the eternally begotten Son of God
- Jesus’s Passion begins in the Garden
- Get’s tempted by satan and triumphs
- Jesus embraces the will of the Father
- After Jesus dies we can see God’s spirit
What Sense of Scripture allows us to see this?
The Allegorical Sense- the way in which the literal sense points us to Christ
How might these parallels help strengthen our faith if we are struggling with our beliefs?
