Unit 3 Flashcards
center of gravity
is the point at which the entire weight of a body may be considered to be concentrated.
why does normal force changes on a horizontal surface vs. an inclined surface
Because is always perpendicular with the surface
projectile
an object that is launched through the air (2 dimensional motion)
trajectory
the path the projectile takes
are horizontal and vertical motion impendent or dependent on a projectile
independent Perpendicular components of vectors do not affect each other, which allows us to easily analyze the motion of projectiles.
they have no effect on each other
centripetal acceleration
acceleration (or change in velocity) twoards the center of a circle
centripetal force
pull on an object twards the center of a circle
How could an object traveling at a constant speed in a circle be changing its velocity and acceleration?
With uniform circular motion, the acceleration is constantly changing due to the change in direction of the velocity, not the change in magnitude of the velocity.
force of gravity
attraction force (pull) that exists between any two objects
gravity as an attraction force between two objects
more mass= more force
more desistance/Furter away= less force
why do astronauts float in space
because even though they are free falling but the velocity is pushing to the side so fast that they float
